the show

I went to the Royal Show for the first time. Like a child I can never get tired of the many animal exhibits (though I am well over the showbags). Pictured is a Shiba Inu, and a girl taking a picture of a curious Shiba Inu. I didn’t realise just how small they were as adults! On the other hand there were plenty of extremely large dogs (Saint Bernards sprawled over the floor, Samoyeds, mountain Huskies) and some rather vain looking puffballed poodles. Saturday was also the day for pet cat judging, and it was odd to see “well fed” (euphemism for fat) mogs showing the signs of their old age being selected on the personal preference of the judges. I also enjoyed the silliness that was cavy (guinea pig) racing, a replacement for the cancelled pig races. Guinea pigs are cautious racers at best, but better than little pigs getting swine flu from us humans.

The picture above was taken with my Digital Harinezumi camera, just for fun. I’m not that excited about its “toy” look for photos, but the Super 8-like footage I shot of a few rides means I should get the editing software out again soon…
