July 10th, 2008 a few odd ends
it might be in japanese, but it’s still silly - take the textbook of your choice, and scribble all over the pictures of important historical figures and make comments all over the paragraphs. kyokasho.net should satisfy some of your margin doodling urges. and give you the opportunity to write “love” and “world peace” around a picture of hitler.
my second favourite library blog, after love the liberry (i cannot resist wallowing in the daily customer mess), is closed stacks. running a group blog is a great idea - it helps to keeps the posts coming, at least in theory. it’s a combination of crazy library stories with some deft observations on the library issues of the day, and a bit of cultural critique here and there. you know, the kind of thing they call a nice balance.
and to finish, today’s doozies from our library:
- a new homebound service reader wants “old mysteries because the new ones don’t respect women”
- lady was booking flights on the internet computers, when the screen froze at the exact moment when our community info librarian walked past. she then blamed the librarian for jinxing her computer. (women are witches, eh?)
