October 12th, 2007 limi feu for life?
i don’t want to dress to merely look pretty. i want to wear the form, line and function that i want. i don’t want to wear the fashion that teenage girls like - i’m a woman after all. seeing yamamoto limi’s designs, i know i’m halfway there, but i want to become the woman who can fit these clothes. not in a sizing sense, of course, but in a personal way. she’s yohji’s daughter, of course, but but limi’s work is more wearable, and whilst still leaving room for experimentation.
musician kawamura kaori is a frequent appearance on the runway (and sometimes her young daughter wearing the limi feu kids line). model sakata kayo is pretty recogniseable from her tattoos.

i usually hate dresses, unless they have some edge to them, or else if they’re just plain. but a more modern take on dresses is what’s delivered as well, taking the large white shirt, and making it even bigger…

the best evidence that i could go on wearing these things forever is from real life. when i saw this photo of togawa jun a couple of years ago, i thought, there’s no better way to show them what you’re made of (other than having a long standing, left of field career).

as a person she is clearcut as well - not being into fashion until her father took her to see one of his shows in new york, which changed the direction of her life. plus she says: “I still can’t get over how expensive designer brands are, and the lengths women go to to buy them. Normal, working single women can’t spend that much on clothes.”
single, independent women who aren’t asking their significant other for a clothing allowance - i relate to that. and in typical frank fashion, the below interview has her saying certain things about her famous father…
most of my wardrobe is thrifted or given to me, or just plain old stuff i’ve had for years, so taking the step to buy her clothes is a big thing, and also a little painful on the pursestrings, even secondhand from auction sites. maybe i’m being fooled by the facade, but i want to maintain the punk attitude for a long time yet.

those strappy boots she uses a lot in this collection you can get amazing ones like them at sab55. She also does large and layers with helluva lot of black in a way I find you can take your own way.
I personally haven’t found much I like in Limi Feu’s recent collection - which piece did you get?
But yeah - don’t forget what’s in your own backyard!

this one - it’s plain, but i like long lines.
call it contradictory - i can spend hours looking at clothes online, but rarely look at shops in person. maybe i’m missing out on the cut or fitting…
