mid-autumn festival being the literal translation of 中秋節, but winter still has its last fingers on spring here. i ended up working the first ever late night friday at the library. driving home inbetween hills, a low, round, golden brown mooncake coloured moon was hanging about. so naturally when i come home, what do i want to eat?
the picture above is a piglet, though, not a mooncake. the cheaper cousin to the mooncake, in that sometimes it is all oily pastry and no filling. but almost too cute to eat, and which i have to photograph my food before eating it in order to placate myself.

general housekeeping: i have an mp3 ep for download, thanks to luke at patterns community sound centre. ye can sample it and download the whole thing at archive.org. i wrote a short commentary for each track on my myspace blog. eh, duplication much?

also i recieved this zine in the mail not long ago, just pictures, no return address. stuff i can identity includes a picture i took, ash naylor (haha, you know what i like), and a still from tokyo gomi onna (one of those obsessive films i like too). mixtape person of 06 strikes again…

from top left:
free free - suzuki ami meets yasutaka nakata (capsule) i am generally not interested in straight dance music, yet the works of nakata constantly draw me in, whether with capsule, or his pop songwriting projects perfume, or this time writing for suzuki ami. hard dance music on a clear vinyl 12″. cannot decide if i like the a-side or super music maker better (”kimi to hey you yeah!”);
neil & iraiza - i (heart) ny all the songs on this ep were written by horie hirohisa, which is weird when you have someone like matsuda gakuji (cubismo grafico) by your side. horie liked to inject the psych factor into their pop songs. i don’t know if they will make music together again, but at least they stick together for their iradio show. and horie plays keyboards for cocco even after singer songer, which i find a waste of his talent;
american school lp - the you he’s solo project of hoff dylan member komiyama yuhi, a decent amount of that late 90s psych influenced pop that i like, plus enough sampling by illshit tsuboi. obviously loves his american pop - a remix ep for the track mountain also gets a remix from roger joseph manning jr.;
nuit - cubismo grafico i like his music more and more, especially stripping down a little for something which might be played late at night (nuit). i want to capture the joy in his music;
golden love - ロロロ (kuchiroro) new label, this time on ryuichi sakamoto’s commons. another record i probably wouldn’t have bought six months ago. airbrushed 80s cover, but smart dance/rap/pop songs inside. a good collaboration with halcali too!;
the days of perky pat - satoru ono a departure from his debut, a mixup pop which fit right in with his second royal labelmates. but this time, the gretsch guitar on the cover and the guitar pick that comes with the cd tells us he’s harking back to simpler times.

stickers and guitar pick from the kuchiroro, satoru ono and cubismo grafico cds.
